Appropriately enough for a musical that chronicles the life of a cave creature with pointy ears and razor-sharp teeth, Bat Boy premiered at the Actors’ Gang Theatre on Halloween night, 1997, in Los Angeles. Its book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming was inspired by a sensational article published in “Weekly World News” in 1992. Laurence O’Keefe wrote the score. It opened at the Union Square Theater in New York in March 2001 and closed the following December. Since, it has been seen around the world in various productions that have met with great audience and critical response, notably in Germany.
