Thomas “Fats” Waller definitely gained a new audience when this exuberant revue opened at the Longacre Theatre in May 1978 for a run of 1,604 performances. With stellar performances by its quintet of headliners, including Nell Carter and Ken Page, it also brought back to the theatre district a genre that had long gone into oblivion, and paved the way for other shows like Eubie, Sophisticated Ladies, and Bubbling Brown Sugar, among others. First LP release: July 1978.
